As the 12th century dawns, Castle Teadorica is a distant memory. Exiled in Iceland, the matriarch still holds court over the Bond though the sisters are scattered across Europe with their husbands fighting to maintain their properties in an ever changing feudal political landscape.
The unholy marriage of cross and crown left by Charlemagne has turned Europe into a feudal malaise but the winds of war never rest for long. Where once the cross anointed the crown, crowns now fight for the cross as Saracens replace Vikings in a quest for the heart of Europe.
Pope Urban II has declared Holy Crusade with Jerusalem as the prize and Aoife and her sisters must find a way to leverage the winds of war to once again find their ancient voice in the transforming hierarchies of western culture.
The summer of 1096 marks their departure from Iceland after 6 months of planning to relocate to Normandy near Mont St. Michel where they will redefine the nature of finance amid the chaotic logistics of “Holy War”.
